Product Description
A New Jersey mall security guard who takes his job very seriously has a chance to prove himself when a group of thieves dressed as Santa's helpers sei

Attention, shoppers: Former King of Queens star Kevin James makes the successful leap to big screen leading man with this Die Hard meets Home Alone slapstick comedy produced by Adam Sandler. In his most empathetic role since his endearing scene-stealing turn in Hitch, James (who also co-wrote the script) stars as biggest loser Paul Blart, a 10-year veteran of the West Orange, New Jersey shopping mall, where he gets no respect from taunting kids who pelt him with ball pit orbs, or a senior who brazenly violates Bart's strictly enforced speed limit in his motorized wheelchair. The film is slow to get rolling as it lays on the pathos as thick as the peanut butter the lonely, overweight and socially awkward Blart spreads on his pies ("Food fills the cracks in he heart," he tells his mother). But then, a band of cycling, skateboarding thieves presumably recruited from the X games take over the mall on so-called Black Friday, the busiest holiday season shopping day. Blart is "untrained, unarmed, and presents a huge target," but, like a plus-size John McClane on a Segway, he is the wild card determined to stop them and rescue his unrequited crush (Jayma Mays) who has been taken hostage. James carries the film on his massive shoulders (the supporting cast is strictly discount outlet, with comedian Adam Ferrara as a sympathetic cop and Bobby Cannavale from Will & Grace and Third Watch as a bullying SWAT team leader the most familiar faces). He proves himself to be an impressively agile physical comedian and he's game for every body slam, pratfall, and tumble. Rated PG for mild violence, a few profanities, and a couple of gross-out gags, Paul Blart: Mall Cop is less crude than previous Sandler productions, more The Benchwarmers than Deuce Bigalow. --Donald Liebenson

5 out of 5 stars very funny   August 3, 2010
R. Goldberg (florida,usa)
I loved this movie. Made me cry laughing the first time I saw it! I brought it to our family reunion vacation to share the laughs.

5 out of 5 stars Check Out The Drunk Scene   July 10, 2010
Rainbow (Southern IL United States)
I laughed my CAN off at the beginning! Though I found the scene funny where Blart got drunk, I have to admit I would not laugh at such a thing in real life. However, being fictional, I laughed so hard as my child would say "cannot breathe". He got a hold of hard lemmonade, probable beknownst to him, and he was doing a little of breakdancing, and he was quite a character.
I was touched by the fact his daughter did not want to see her father alone without a relationship. I also loved that he showed people he was not a loser after all! And he wrote a card so sweet that women across the world would love to receive. There was a scene that TOOOTALLY ticks you off, but the writers then made up for it! I would rate this 4.8
I rented this last night, wishing I can buy this already!

5 out of 5 stars It makes me laugh....   May 23, 2010
D. Haggerty (Silicon Valley, California)
It makes me laugh....what else can I say? I like it well enough to buy it, which says a lot (for me). It depends on the type of humor you enjoy. If you like silly --walkin' that fine line betwixt silly and stupid-- humor, that's clean with a light romantic element, and like spoofs (think "Die Hard" with a few twists...well, more than a few) then you'll probably like this. Also if you like Kevin James in general, either from his stand-up comedian shows ("Don't Sweat the Small Stuff" is great), or his TV show (which I've never seen), you'll probably enjoy this. I really enjoyed all the Special Features on this DVD, too, and watched all of them -- and there was a lot to see. The behind the scenes footage was very interesting, and I had no idea when I first saw it that these guys were professional "X-Gamers," and everyone did all their own stunts, and even did some things just for the Special Features. So it's very enjoyable to watch again and again -- both the movie and all the many featurettes.

4 out of 5 stars why the hate?   May 5, 2010
Rebecca Johnston
Just saw this and got on to review it. Why it has so many bad reviews, I don't know. It's not the best film ever, it's certainly predictable, and it's a bit over the top at times, but isn't that what a light-hearted comedy should be? If you're looking for something fun, this is a good one to rent. Some really funny scenes and good acting (for what it is). Physical humor, if you like that. Everything ends well, if you like that.

5 out of 5 stars Quick and easy   May 1, 2010

This is a great movie. When I ordered this I thought it would take a long time to get it. But it came right away. Thank you for sending it quickly.
